So Im getting some much needed alcohol for the weekend at the local liquor store and the guy checking me out says this:

CheckoutGuy: I like your tshirt. Do you know the story about that Ford GT?

I am wearing the Blipshift Porsche 917 tshirt.

I mentally face palm myself.

At this point, Im done with the day. Its 8:40 pm. Im hungry.

Me: Yes, I know. Great car.

I end the conversation as soon as I can and leave, so I can face palm myself for realsies.

He was being friendly, you were being the snob. You could've said 'yeah, great story, but the one on my shirt is the Porsche 917, which dominated racing after the gt40. Read up on it, they came in pig-liveries and eventually ended up in the US of America where they won so much Can-Am races they made it too boring which led to the demise of Can Am. '

10-4. I'm with you. Someone who wasn't 100% devoted to cars (like some of us) Something about the GT 40 caught his attention enough to read-watch a movie-search something on the internet about it. He had more knowlodge about it that all his friends and family and you were the 1st person that he could discuss he newfound love of prototype cars.

Oppertunity lost-I bet he would have been glad to hear what YOU know.

Maybe he thought that you would be interested in talking about it cause you were interested in cars? It doesn't seem like he said that it was a Ford GT on your shirt, so you could have heard what he had to see.

Okay. That makes more sense. At least he didn't see the shirt and say it was a Supra or GTR. There's a tiny tiny connection between the 917 and the Ford GT.
